please help... applying for new private insurance before 2014...

I have had private insurance for 10 years for hospitalization.  In 2009 I had arthroscopic hip surgery.
I just applied for full coverage insurance with BC/BS and was approved, BUT they put a PERMANENT exclusion on ANY and EVERYTHING possibly related to my hip!

I am wondering what to do now..

Will Obamacare get rid of this exclusion in 2014?

  • Hi @treelotus:

Obamacare doesn't allow insurance companies to exclude pre-existing conditions.  Furthermore, insurance companies cannot charge you more, compared to another person in the same plan, because of a pre-existing condition.  If the pricing and other coverage for the Obamacare plans is competitive with your existing BC/BS plan, then I believe Obamacare should be good news for you.

    Thank you,
    Bob

    Thanks, Bob.
I guess we'll find out more in October.  At least that's what I've heard.
